Environmental Science - Fiction and Non-Fiction for Tomorrow's Scientists
My students need a wide variety of environmental science books - both fiction and non-fiction. These books will be available for all 350+ students in the school to read.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Although the middle school where I teach is between two larger cities, it is very secluded and sheltered. In fact, a great majority of the students have not ventured out of their area. We are a Title I School and serve free breakfast and free lunch to all students who attend. A large majority of the students are English Language Learners (ELLs) and are either first or second generation Americans. This creates extra challenges to ensure that all students receive differentiated instruction to order to meet their need. We are in a rural farming community.
Our school library needs up-to-date environmental science books and exhibits so that students can learn more about this field of science, especially since it impacts them as we are a rural farming community.
My Project
I have carefully gone through many different lists for recommended environmental science books that our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will like.
There are a wide variety of both fiction and non-fiction books that can help our rural farming students learn about the environment either through facts or through exploring other fictional worlds.
I know that these books will help to plant seeds of curiosity and motivate our students to continue learning about the environment as this is how many in the community make their livelihoods.
There are many environmental issues that our students need to be aware of from pesticides, water usage, recycling, and other topics that will directly effect their farming future.
