This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My preschool students are children who are three to five years of age. My school is in sunny San Pedro, California where children come to school each morning ready to learn and grow! There's never a dull moment in our class. My students are busy bees moving from one interest area to another. They're eager to learn, explore, engage and experiment with the instructional materials and centers I set up for them. We need more instructional materials for the children to engage with, materials that will foster their interest in technology, literacy, math, science, art and engineering. Every single one of my students deserves a fair chance at having his or her potential nurtured and fully developed. My little ones have an insatiable curiosity, that's why it's important for me to have a class with a variety of instructional materials to meet their educational needs.

My Project

As a way to introduce my students to animals native to North America I will use the Forrest Animal collection to engage them in building wild animal habitats in the block interest area. The collection consists of 20 woodland animals figurines such as the black bear, eagle, fox, moose, raccoons and more. I will teach them facts about these amazing creatures and their habitat. Dramatic play will come to life in my classroom with the Classic Wild Animal Collection from Lakeshore. My students will engage with the exotic animals such as the gorilla, giraffe, hippopotamus, zebra, crocodile, snake, lion and more. Learning about wildlife with help my students become aware of the amazing animals that exist and the importance of protecting their habitats and ensuring the survival of the many animals and endangered species that are threatened day to day by the deforestation that exists around the world. Furthermore, with the Safari Read Along and the Swing Sloth Read Along Book collection, my students will learn many wildlife animal facts that will help them grow in consciousness, knowledge, appreciation and regard for the amazing animals that we share our amazing planet with. To support my students learning, my classroom needs the skill building Let's Find Out and My Big World with Clifford Preschool magazine subscription. My students will have access to this amazing resource that introduces vital information in the subjects of science, social development topics and social science.
