My students need 12 supplies such as watercolor paints, felt pens, foam brayers, and oil pastels to continue their study of the environment.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Dye's classroom raised $493
This project is fully funded
I teach an amazing group of fourth and fifth grade students in a self-contained highly capable program. My students are extremely intelligent (top 3%) and creative.
Thanks to Donors Choose, the environment has been our year long theme. So far my students have conducted classroom waste audits, taught recycling lessons in the classrooms, started/maintain two school worm bins, and began/run a school waste-free lunch program. We are now giving a local pig farmer 100 pounds of food each day!
As a class we have taken four outdoor field trips to study different ecosystems, had a green Halloween and made public service announcements on plastic pollution.
I would now like to add art. Donna Hugh has produced a series of excellent art lessons using simple, inexpensive materials. Her lessons are based on art principles. I plan to show the videos to my students so they can try each technique and then have them change the subject to reflect an environmental theme.
I am requesting a copy of each of her six videos and the basic supplies to complete the lessons. At the end of the year the students will display their work in an environmental art show.
With budget cuts, we have no supplies for art. With your donation, I can add art back into the curriculum and encourage children to respect and protect our environment.
