My Students
"Ni Hao, Wang Lao Shi!" My 24 Mandarin English bilingual young scholars see me with a heart warming greeting every day. "What are we going to learn for science today?" is the question that follows.
My third graders are enthusiastic about learning environmental science.
Our recent lesson on researching how to covert solar energy into our daily life sparks their love for paying close attention to the natural resources in our immediate environment. They work collaboratively to find out how people can convert natural resources to save energy.
My Project
My students are learning to use computer device to research how solar energy can help save our planet. They will work in groups to collect online information about what solar panels are and how they work. They will also find out if there is a correlation between electricity bills, and energy conservation that solar panels can bring about. They will use the computer to write reports on their findings and create graphs to show the differences solar panels make in saving energy.
Solar panels will make an impact on energy consumption.
A computer and accessories will enable my students to research the mechanism of solar panels, and the benefits of having solar panels in our daily life. They will then study cases to compare and contrast the economic and environmental savings with such device.
The pencil sharpener will be used to sharpen their writing. Thank you for your consideration!
