Entry Mural: Celebrating Our Community and Environment

Help me give my students a community and culture building activity that beautifies our school!

My Project

Our school has occupied several buildings in its 20+ year history. Currently, we are settled into a 100 year old building designed as an elementary school. Our student population ranges from 6-12th graders, and draws from every zip code in our county. Upon entering our school, rather than being welcomed into our inclusive and intentional community, visitors encounter a truly heinous green wall.

The art materials (paint, brushes, rollers and trays) for this project will allow our community to create a large scale mural that displays our artistic skills, promotes our collaboration skills, and celebrates the natural beauty in our community.

Students will be involved in this process from the design, implementation, and maintenance phases.

Themes in the mural will include celebrating diversity, recognizing the importance of environmental stewardship, recognizing the value in our community, and developing a shared vision for the future.
