I want my fourth graders to become strong readers. My students need books at their reading level that capture their interest.
I work with 32 amazing fourth grade students.
Half of my students have special needs and half of them are general education students. My students are great mathematicians, readers, and writers who love to engage in scientific inquiries and are curious about the world around them.
My Project
My students choose books from our classroom library to read in school and at home. The best way to learn to love to read and write is through literature. I need some new fiction and non-fiction books that can engage my students. They are ready for books with complex language structures and sophisticated vocabulary. They enjoy texts like Sabertooth Cat, Bell's Star, Strider, Koda, Dog Finds Lost Dolphins and Elska that are detailed and descriptive and present abstract concepts and themes.
Do you remember the pleasure of cuddling up in a chair and reading your favorite book such as
How to Be a Pirate, Flora and Ulysses or How to Train Your Dragon?
I want my students to love reading as much as I do. I need your support to make this a reality in my classroom.
