it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 10 copies of Brave New World inside my cabinet, collecting dust. Where it should really be is in the hands of my twelfth grade students, but that meager number is not enough to give to my entire class.
My students need 20 copies of the novel "Brave New World".
I have very inquisitive twelve graders who would blossom with a novel like Brave New World. Entering into this complex dystopia will not only challenge their thinking, but it will also force them to reevaluate their sense of morality - as Huxley has certainly done for us when we read it in high school. Effective thinkers is what we hope our students will be when they enter society after graduation. For that to happen, they need access to novels that are thought provoking and relevant to their lives. I believe Huxley will do just that.
My Project
I can already envision my classroom after they come back having read the first chapter. I can see their calls of disgust, their sincere confusion, and their desire to discuss what they just read. The atmosphere will be giddy, anxious, and fun! I hope you can help us create that room.
