Enriching Vocabulary Through Paper

My students need 15 dictionaries and 10 thesauruses so that they can enrich their vocabulary and writing skills.

My Students

"Be the change you want to see in the world," Mahatma Gandhi said, and my students apply this quote in my classroom and dream big every day. They are encouraged to share those dreams through our new writing program, but don't have the needed tools to enrich a stronger vocabulary.

My students are hard workers, dreams, and students who want to make a difference.

They come to school ready and willing to learn. Our community is one that encourages our students by telling them they can be what they want to be, they have the ability to strive high and reach their goals, as well as the love and support from not only their parents and teachers, but the family feeling you get from our community.

My Project

My students have embraced our new writing program, but fall short when it comes to editing because they don't have the necessary tools to help them out. They go through the writing process by journaling in their notebook daily where they take that experience journaling and turn it into a masterpiece. We revisit our writing many times, finding ways to enrich our vocabulary, develop our sentences with our new found grammar skills, and edit our writing to be exactly what we want it to be. They have created their own dictionary where they can go back and look to see how words are spelled or if it is a noun or verb, but don't have a place for that initial look up. Many students want to enrich their vocabulary by finding synonyms to words so they have a variety throughout their writing, but are unable to do to the lack of thesaurus'. This would be a great tool for them and one that would be used on a daily basis.

These dictionaries and thesaurus' will help my students tremendously.

They can learn the skills needed to look up words, they can enrich their vocabulary, and they can become better writers because they have the tools available to them that allow them to be successful.
