Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Opening students minds through hands-on activities is my priority. Students in my low income middle school work hard to achieve success. I am a sixth grade English teacher working hard to help a diverse population of learners.

My school has adopted a new program this year to help students develop into independent thinkers and learners. Students are taking part in Enrichment Clusters where they get to take part in a research based program to create an authentic, real-life project based on interests they have. Students in my cluster are interested in learning about their family history and their cultures and customs. They are going to create individual projects to share with their families and our community at a school-wide fair. However, we have limited supplies for their creativity to soar.

Students need to have basic art supplies, such as scissors, glue, paper and pencils, to help them on their journey of creativity and not be limited by lack of supplies. Students have unbelievably creative ideas on how to express their new learning, and I want to encourage them and watch them flourish.

With your help, all my students will be able to create masterpieces that will begin them on their journey of taking charge of their learning and education. Your generosity would help expose them to learning in a new way - a program in which they take charge and express what they're learning in ways they find best.
