This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach in one of the Pre-K centers in Brooklyn. We serve the youngest students in NYC. Our school is currently serving 3-K and Pre-K students. We have 14 classes and I would love to create a STEAM lab full of different materials to promote their cognitive development.
Many students step into this school setting for the first time.
Pre-K is the initial beginning for many of our young students. Entering at age 3/4, they face new experiences, challenges, fears, and excitement. Many of our students come from diverse backgrounds and many speak a different language. We believe in providing students a positive learning experience with different materials to keep them engaged.
Our young learners have short attention spans, however they are so eager to learn. By providing them a variety of materials related to our units of study, we give students an opportunity to communicate, be creative, experiment and so much more!
