This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
he materials I am requesting are units of study in writing based on the new English Language Arts Common Core Standards, specifically for 6th grade. The materials address the different types of writing that students should learn integrated with reading. Therefore writing will not be taught in isolation. This writing resource will not only address the needs of students in the area of writing, it also provides opportunities for teachers to learn how to use rubrics, anchor charts, writing exemplars, mentor texts and different strategies to teach students how to write in different genres. The resources also provide teachers the opportunity to use different strategies and opportunities for assessment, especially how to help struggling writers. The most important benefit is that my students will learn that writing has a purpose and it's not an isolated subject in school. Students will learn to use rubrics to evaluate their own writing while learning strategies to improve their writing.
The donation of this writing resource would not only help improve student writing it would help improve writing instruction.
Students need the opportunity for genuine experiences in writing to motivate them. This writing resource would help my students with authentic writing experiences. Through these writing activities students will learn how writing is important in everyday communication with a real purpose and not an isolated school subject.
