My students come from a diverse area in suburban Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Central Dauphin School District has two senior high school buildings where we try to provide our students with a robust offering of technical programs. We offer our students several classes in engineering, robotics, 3D design, animation, computer game design, digital graphics, and T.V. production. Students come to us with a variety of backgrounds and challenges. We try to provide personalized opportunities to all of our students where they can succeed in a technical world.
My Project
We are currently enhancing our Technology Education labs at Central Dauphin High School, working through phase #1 of the project: switching equipment between two labs. The one lab is used for CADD, robotics, computer game design, computer animation, and 3D printing and design. The other lab is used for the 9th grade class, upper level engineering classes, and graphic design courses. We would like to swap furniture between the two labs to enhance the learning experience and maximize lab space for more STEM activities (i.e., more robotics, laser cutting, CNC equipment). One lab currently has older dual monitor computers, which is great for expanding your work area across both monitors (great for graphic design and 3D modeling), or to have an internet browser open on one screen to display tutorials, lessons, online classroom programs, or additional software, while having your actual work open on the other screen. Purchasing these additional computer monitors will allow 2 labs to utilize the power of dual monitors and benefit hundreds of students in not only my classes, but other classes within the department!
