Enhancing Speech and Sensory Learning: A Comprehensive Toolkit
Help me give my students a range of tools to enhance their speech and sensory development, including a speech sound handbook, articulation cards, calming strips, sensory and fidget toys, interactive cubes, and a fun movement deck.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Speech and Language therapy provides a necessary resource for students who are struggling to communicate their needs. These materials will benefit my students by enhancing their engagement and learning in the speech room. The Speech Sound Handbook & Eliciting 'R' Workbook will provide structured and detailed strategies for mastering speech sounds, particularly the 'r' sound, which can be challenging for many students. Super Duper Articulation Cards are able to offer visual and interactive tools to practice and reinforce articulation skills, making speech therapy engaging and effective. Calm Strips, Mesh Marble Fidget Toys, and Kinetic Sand help students with sensory needs by providing calming and focus-enhancing tools that reduce anxiety and improve concentration. Let's Talk! Cubes encourage verbal expression and language development through fun, interactive activities that stimulate conversation and language practice. Super Duper Move Your Body Fun Deck will promote physical activity and helps students develop coordination and motor skills in a playful, engaging way.Enhancing articulation skills and supporting language development will improve students' ability to produce and articulate specific speech sounds, particularly those that are challenging and will encourage verbal expression and interaction through engaging and interactive resources.
These materials will also help to create an inclusive learning environment by providing diverse tools that cater to various learning styles and needs, ensuring that each student can benefit in their own way.
My students are unique in their diverse learning needs and strengths, requiring individualized support and creative strategies. They have specific challenges in speech which makes tailored resources crucial for their development. Their individuality and varied needs drive the necessity for a broad range of tools to effectively support their learning and growth.
