Enhancing Speech and Language Therapy Experiences!

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This school year, students on my speech and language therapy caseload will range from preschool to fifth grade.
As there will be a wide range of student age groups, I hope to meet all of my students' learning needs at their age-appropriate levels.
By first gaining access to therapy materials and resources, I will be able to provide them with fun and engaging therapy activities that will meet their individual needs.
Gaining access to an iPad for my students to use will enable me to integrate blended learning instruction and ensure versatility during my therapy sessions. During the first two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, I had made investments in a plethora of digital speech and language therapy resources for my students (e.g. Boom Cards, digital books, website memberships such as GetEpic, Busy Bee Speech, etc.). Having an iPad will enable me to use these resources and blend hands-on and in-person tasks with digital instruction to engage my students and help them target their speech and language goals.
The sequencing cards and describing flashcards will enable me to target a variety of speech and language goals such as narrative structures, problem solving tasks, inferencing, carrier phrases with speech targets, describing, and more. I will use the "memory snack" tray and picnic baskets to hide mini objects (carefully selected objects with speech sound targets that will also include evidence-based therapy approaches such as "minimal pairs therapy") for young students to engage in a memory game while targeting and practicing their speech sounds. This will also be a great opportunity for young students to practice and learn target vocabulary words, sentence formulation, carrier phrases, describing, and other therapy goals.
