Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a first-grade teacher of English Language Learners. They all come from different cultural and educational backgrounds. They all bring into the classroom their rich, cultural experiences.
In my Bilingual class, I have to teach and ensure that all my students learn all subjects like reading, writing, math and science.
My students are at-risk and come from high poverty. Therefore, due to their limitations, my students are in need of additional resources in order to be able to learn and succeed.
My Project
Daily in class my students do reading centers. In the centers they have the opportunity to reinforce their reading skills in word study, fluency and comprehension both in English and in Spanish. However, we lack some fundamental components in our reading centers. Therefore, I am asking for some resources that will greatly support my students in their reading.
I know that with these reading resources my students will be able to learn and improve their reading skills both in English and in Spanish.
The rhyming and first word dominoes game sets and the small white boards will provide my students the opportunity to practice their word skills. They will be able to have fun while they are learning. The six Belkin Rockstar jack audio splitters will be used with groups of students that will share a tablet. They will be able to learn and practice fluency and comprehension skills while they listen to books and take quizzes.
