My Students

My students need ink for our color printer so that I can create a colorful print RICH environment that encourages children’s love for learning. "I am a believer that color affects people's moods." -Lilly Pulitzer

I have 34, preschool age students, who are predominantly from a Latino/Hispanic background with a few African/American students.

For many of them, their first language is Spanish and unfortunately, they are living within the poverty guidelines. However, they are extremely enthusiastic about coming to school everyday and learning new things. They're in need of the experiences that every child deserves. I hope by providing them with ink for our printer for daily use they will have a print rich environment.

My Project

With an inkjet printer, I will be able to create a print rich environment that will be full of visuals, hands-on activities and color that will encourage and enhance my students love for learning, reading and literacy skill development. In addition, to providing behavioral supports to aid with making transitions, I want to create a classroom that’s exciting and full of color with labels galore that will help my students identify, explore, and navigate the classroom independently and feel comfortable in doing so. Preschool is centered around learning through play, so it’s very important to me that everything is meaningful and fun. I’m a very creative teacher and I LOVE to create AUTHENTIC, meaningful projects centered around our units of study. This current school year I have spent well over $150 on ink alone in the first 2 ½ months of school. Currently, I only have a personal printer in my classroom and ink is so expensive.
