Enhancing our Sensory and Literacy Experiences

My students need a sensory table for sand and water play along with comfortable pillows for our classroom library!

My Students

My students live in a low-income/high poverty neighborhood. They are faced with all different types of challenges both in and out of the classroom. 100% of students in our school qualify for free breakfast and lunch. The age range of the students in my classroom is from 3 to 5 years old. I have the very important job of making sure that I have the very best teaching materials to ensure that my students develop the necessary skills to get them fully prepared for kindergarten.

My Project

My classroom is in need of a new sensory table! Ours is broken, so I am unable to give my students sand and water experiences. They love the sand/water area for exploration, so it would really be great to get a new table! I also would love to get some comfortable pillows for our classroom library, so my students can sit or lay down with their favorite books. Right now we have a bench in our library that is not the most comfortable seating for them. The pillows would make the area a more desirable place for my students to spend their free time.
