Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Be the change you want to see in the world," Mahatma Gandhi said. This is a quote that I apply in my classroom on a daily basis.
My students are loving and caring.
They have learned to appreciate and respect one another. They enjoy sharing ideas, books, toys and have learned that "Sharing means Caring."
My students come to the classroom knowing that this is their home. They say that we are a family. I love their energy and am grateful to continue creating a cozy and welcoming home for my students to enjoy learning and becoming great readers.
My Project
My students will benefit from these wonderful books by being exposed to great stories, people, illustrations and literature. These books can be used on a daily basis and will be great to relate to and connect to our own experiences. The books of careers are linked to our curriculum and the children are able to connect the theme of "Community Workers" to the books.
The Different Abilities books allows my students to respect and become aware that people should all be treated the same despite their appearance.
The books about physical fitness and healthy foods will allow me to continue teaching the children about the importance of eating healthy and exercising on a daily basis.
Overall, I believe that these books will make a difference in my classroom because of the importance of literature and the passion my students show when grabbing a book to look at and pretend to read.
For example, the child that says, "I want tickity-tickity-tock." "I'm going to read Brown Bear, Brown Bear." or "Look, I am reading Peanut Butter and Jelly."
This is what I witness and hear throughout the day. It is rewarding to know that my students love book!
