Enhancing Music Education: Unlocking Asynchronous Learning with Screen Capture Resources!

My Project
The COVID-19 pandemic unquestionably impacted my students' learning, hindering their ability to collaborate and interact. As an online educator, fostering collaboration and engagement among high schoolers has been exceptionally challenging. To make my music class engaging and interactive for asynchronous learners, I've selected 3 vital digital resources to automate my instructional presentation for music classes. The Atem Mini Pro: This device’s function is for presenting a Point of View and hands-on approach to learning musical theory related concepts from a piano perspective. It aids in explaining musical theory, harmony exercises, chord structures, and more. Students visiting our live drop-in sessions or accessing recorded instructional material will equally benefit from this resource by receiving the same instructional content. For instance, students from either learning perspective can equally experience diatonic scales or characteristics of Classical music and compare/contrast it to other historical musical influences. The Atem mini will be used to make instructional content (retrieved through a computer screen) accessible by every student. The Elgato Stream Deck: Considering the learning environment for students that I am serving, I've chosen an automation device to automate and present instructional content effectively. This device provides automated scenes, instructional sequences, support, and more at the touch of a button. This device is compact and easily configurable making it invaluable for live or recorded demonstrations. Additionally, students can record and share their own knowledge during synchronous sessions at the touch of a button and asynchronous learners can access content created by their peers. Lastly, the Gimbal Stabilizer is a dynamic hardware device for mounting a variety of recording devices such as a camera or phone that I will use for recording instruction or student demonstrations. This hardware device minimizes distractions in the recording phase by reducing any abrupt movements or jarring during instructional demonstrations or student performances.
