Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The iPads will provide my students with interactive, hands-on experiences that go beyond traditional textbook learning. Apps like Desmos, GeoGebra, and Khan Academy will allow students to visualize and manipulate mathematical concepts in real-time. For example, with GeoGebra, students can explore geometry by constructing shapes and manipulating angles, while Desmos will help them experiment with graphing functions and equations. These tools will make abstract concepts more accessible and engaging, giving students the opportunity to learn in a dynamic, visual way. Since many of my students have struggled with math in the past, these digital tools will also help rebuild their confidence and give them a sense of accomplishment as they engage with math in new, less intimidating ways.

My goal is to help students overcome past math failures and rebuild their confidence.

By incorporating technology, I aim to provide a hands-on, engaging approach to learning that allows students to explore mathematical concepts at their own pace. This project will also help students develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills, as they interact with math in a more personalized, supportive way.

My students have faced significant math challenges, often leading to low confidence and math trauma. As a continuation school, they tend to enter my classroom feeling defeated by their past experiences. However, they are resilient and eager to succeed. The iPads and interactive tools will help them engage with math in a fresh, approachable way, allowing them to see success and begin to rebuild their confidence. This project will empower them to break through past barriers and develop a positive relationship with math
