This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Teaching in a low-income/high poverty school district provides many challenges. The students in my classroom come from very diverse backgrounds but they have one thing in common...their thirst for learning in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment. They desire an environment that provides ample opportunities for active learning to take place while they are challenged and explore through the use of hands on activities.

We provide rigorous instruction that enables our children to achieve academic excellence while building the social and emotional skills needed to become well rounded individuals.

My goal is to offer my students experiences that they would not ordinarily be exposed to. I strive to provide them with hands on materials that will inspire them to interact, investigate and explore. They love books, technology, and manipulating the environment through their senses. Together we make learning fun and successful.

My Project

The use of LeapPads in our preschool classroom will present the children with continuous reinforcement of skills being learned in the classroom such as letters, sounds, math skills, scientific inquiry, social studies skills, etc. The LeapPads will grant the students a technology infused connection to developmentally appropriate learning.

The majority of our students do not have access to technology at home and the LeapPads would provide them with software that reinforces the academic and social skills being learned in school.

During our center time, the students would be able to explore numerous skills through the use of the LeapPad tablets.

The Leap Frog Letter Factory is one excellent program that would enhance letters and letter sound acquisition in order to formulate oral language and phonological awareness in the classroom. The students would be able to play math, science and reading games while problem solving and learning at the same time.

The use of LeapPads in the classroom will give the children a playful way to acquire learning through the use of technology and ultimately grant them a sense of success in excelling in the foundation of their early education.
