Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading is a journey but without interesting texts and tools, it can be very challenging enhancing students' motivation to continue learning everyday. My goal as an educator is for my students to reach their reading level and be enthusiastic when they hold a book in their hand.

My students are bilingual children who come from low-income families in a neighborhood in the Bronx, New York.

I teach an inclusion class, where 40 percent of my students are diagnosed with speech problems. I also have newcomers with limited English and very low readers.

My Project

My third graders will be exposed to a level library with a variety of interesting books, these books will help them increase their reading level and become excellent readers. The technology will be used for reading programs, such as Raz-Kids, Starfall and others, these programs will really help the newcomers and the very low readers because they will listen to stories and answer comprehension questions. The technology will be used for researching information as well as creating their own books. These will motivate their learning and enhance their reading level.

All of these activities in conjunction will help motivate and increase the students reading level and comprehension skills.

These materials will have a great impact on their lives!
