My students need ink for our printer, plus a computer laptop with external speakers, to complement the ELMO Projector in my room, and to access on-line guided readers and story books.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are faced with the challenge of not being able to see or experience things beyond their own community. Technology is key, in expanding their horizon. Technology will allow my students to gain a deeper understanding of the world as a whole.
I teach 20 inquisitive English language learners ages 4 and 5 whose home language is Spanish.
Our neighborhood is located in a low socioeconomic area, where all other neighboring schools are on a year around calendar due to overcrowding. One hundred percent of my students qualify to receive free lunch services at our school. My students are in a Dual Language Kindergarten Program, where instruction is given both in English and Spanish. My students will benefit from the interactive reading comprehension activities as well as the writing practice in both languages.
My Project
My students need a laptop computer and external speakers, together with the ELMO projector that we currently have in our classroom. Students will be able to experience learning through a new set of lens. Students will be able to see and listen to the characters of stories come alive with vivid color and expression. Students will be able to further investigate and research by exploring related unit topics on-line.
My students are faced with numerous challenges in their first five years of life.
They reside in an extremely poor socioeconomic area . They don't have the same opportunities as other children in the upper and middle class neighborhoods. It is my goal to get them as far as I can in Kindergarten so that they'll be able to compete with other children their age. Technology will lead the way to this venture. My students deserve it.
