Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our classroom at 49th Street Elementary, we strive to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment for all students. To better support my diverse learners, I am seeking funding for a variety of essential resources that will enhance my teaching practices and foster a more effective learning atmosphere.
My goal is to enhance their learning through sensory and flexible seating.
The mirrors will allow my students to observe their mouth movements as they learn to produce sounds correctly. This visual feedback will help them position their tongues and teeth properly, improving their speech and phonemic awareness. The curtains will provide my students with a sense of privacy, creating a comfortable space that helps reduce distractions and allows them to focus better on their tasks. To accommodate our "squirmy" students, the wobble stools and balancing ball seats allow students to engage in movement while remaining focused on their learning, helping to improve concentration and comfort in class.
Providing whiteboard erasers helps with quick access to these tools that enable students to participate more actively during lessons, fostering collaboration and engagement. A portable whiteboard easel is an invaluable resource for quick, on-the-go instruction. This will allow us to easily transition between activities and provide visual aids during lessons, making learning more dynamic and responsive to student needs.
By providing these resources, I aim to create a classroom environment that supports varied learning styles and needs. The mirrors will enhance phonemic awareness, while flexible seating will accommodate movement and comfort. The addition of privacy curtains and interactive tools will empower our students to take charge of their learning, fostering confidence and engagement.
