Enhancing Learning Through Music

My Project

My students are 9th graders learning English as a Second Language at Waipahu High School, a Title I school. I have students who are learning English for the first time to students who are striving to be proficient. After school tutoring is essential to help my students meet state standards and the 9th grade English curriculum. To help my students meet the 9th grade curriculum standards, I supplement their learning gaps with creative styles for learning English as a second language. My students enjoy playing the ukulele and piano. I would like to use their shared music talent to enhance their English skills by doing hands on activities that connects to their background knowledge, personal and cultural experiences.

Your donations will help to engage my students in learning in a way that connects to their interests, background knowledge, and personal experiences.

Despite all the challenges of being an English Language Learner, teenager, and adjusting to a new environment, my students come to school eager to learn and strive to be their best. Your support is greatly appreciated! Mahalo!
