Enhancing Learning Through Interactive Notebooks

My students need glue sticks, colored pencils, crayons, tape, a cart to keep our supplies on, and paper for making copies of the interactive notebook pages.

My Students

In the beginning of the school year many of my students expressed that math was their least favorite subject in school. I wanted to change their outlook by introducing interactive notebooks to my students. They love being able to use their creativity and now they count down the minutes until math.

My 3rd grade students are very eager to learn new ideas and concepts.

Unfortunately, they are lacking the resources and supplies they need to succeed. Many of my students' families are unable to provide their students with school supplies due to financial difficulties. My students come from a high poverty area where all students at our school receive free lunch and breakfast on a daily basis. My students are very appreciative and grateful for everything that comes into the classroom.

My Project

I started using interactive math notebooks with my students in the beginning of the year and have received such positive responses from the students that I have continued using them. The interactive notebooks are a valuable tool used as a supplemental learning activity. Using interactive notebooks increases student interaction and participation. The notebook pages are directly aligned to the common core state standards and the pages contain different notes, vocabulary terms, problem sets, and visual representations to help the students deepen their understanding. The interactive notebooks require students to color, cut, and glue different pieces into their notebooks to enhance their skills and understanding. We seem to go through glue sticks very quickly and with limited funds at our school I am unable to continue supplying all of the materials they need. Our school has used its copy paper limit for the year and with the notebooks we need several copies in order to create the pages. My students need glue sticks, colored pencils, crayons, tape, a cart to keep our supplies on, and paper for making copies of the interactive notebook pages.

My students are engaged in learning when they are able to become actively involved and use their creativity to reinforce the concepts we are learning.

With the supplies requested they will be able to continue creating their interactive notebooks and being actively engaged in the learning process. We are have limited space in our classroom but with a cart we can keep our requested supplies all in one place.I am appreciative of your consideration to help me with supplies for my students.
