My Project
I love my students' curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, especially when uncovering the mysteries of our shared human history. They are a diverse group of 12th graders, bringing many perspectives and experiences into the classroom. Their eagerness to explore complex subjects like forensic anthropology inspires me to find the best resources to support their educational journey.
The Forensic Geographic Ancestry Human Skulls Set will be a game-changer in our classroom.
This set includes detailed, 1/2-scale skulls representing the critical traits of African, Asian, and European ancestries. With these tools, my students can engage in hands-on investigations, allowing them to apply what they learn about skeletal morphology practically and meaningfully. They will use vernier calipers, detailed diagrams, and reference tables to identify differences in ancestry and sex, making the abstract concepts in their textbooks come to life.
My goal for this project is to deepen my students' understanding of human diversity through the lens of forensic anthropology. By working with these resources, they will develop critical thinking skills, learn to analyze evidence, and appreciate the scientific methods used in real-world forensic investigations. This project will also encourage them to consider the broader implications of these differences regarding history, culture, and identity.
What makes my students unique is their resilience and determination. Many come from challenging backgrounds, yet they show up every day ready to learn and grow. They deserve access to the best educational tools, and I am committed to providing them with opportunities that will spark their curiosity and prepare them for future success. This project will help them see themselves as capable scientists, thinkers, and contributors to our understanding of humanity.
