My Project
Financial literacy is an essential life skill that should be introduced early to help students develop responsible money habits. At the second-grade level, basic math concepts like addition, subtraction, and understanding money are the foundation for more advanced financial concepts in later years. Currently, my classroom lacks key resources to effectively support small group math instruction, a critical setting for focused, personalized learning.
The resources I'm requesting will make math more fun and help students build important financial skills.
Having proper seating is important to help students stay focused and comfortable during small group math lessons, where they get the one-on-one attention they need to really understand the material. Stools at the math table will help keep them engaged during these sessions. Also, using tools like play money, counting blocks, and financial literacy games makes learning more hands-on and fun, but they need to be organized. Storage bins will make it easy to grab what we need quickly, so we can spend more time learning. Finally, with printer ink, I can create and laminate interactive math centers that get students excited about activities like budgeting, counting coins, and making simple financial decisions.
