Enhancing Collaborative Learning in Science

Help me give my students power strips and audio splitters for better access to using the technology in the classroom as they engage in online, collaborative learning. Both devices will allow them to work better in groups.

My Students

I have the privilege of teaching physical science in northwest Washington, D.C. My students love science! We do as many hands-on activities that we can and integrating technology in the classroom has allowed them to teach themselves and collaborate.

My students are amazing little scientists and nurturing their innate curiosity is the best part of my job.

They enjoy working together as they learn about the world. Videos and interactive labs tend to be their favorite. I have taught these students for 3 years and l know learning about physical science this year will absolutely blow their minds!

My Project

We all know how talkative middle schoolers can be. As a teacher, I try to use this to their advantage by having them work in groups. My students come from diverse backgrounds and therefore have a range of background knowledge. They can learn from one another while learning new things.

These power strips and audio splitter devices will enhance my scientists ability to watch videos and perform interactive labs/simulations in groups.

Since devices tend to be limited, have poor battery life and classrooms are not conducive to multiple computers charging at a time, these materials will alleviate the frustration students encounter when trying to use their computers, help maximize their time and strengthen their collaboration.
