My Students
In our Title One school we support students from grades Pre-K to 5th. We serve students and families of all backgrounds and family dynamics. We have students from military families and those who have been here in our town for generations.

In third grade, I encourage my students to develop in ways to increase their independence through all subject contents. It is a time where they can express themselves through their work in order to develop into a unique member of society as well as, practice interacting with others where they can communicate with others in a respectful manner despite various opinions. In our world today, being able to work with others with different opinions and the right to see the world how they want, it is essential for students to practice interacting with others for the greater good. By making this a focus in my classroom, I am striving to help my students develop into well rounded individuals.
My Project
The items I am requesting will help enhance the classroom environment. It will enable students to work around the classroom easier by providing them a place to sit, rather than the floor. In addition, I like to allow my students to work in places where they can focus best and feel comfortable on independent assignments or group work. By doing so, this will help support success.
The games and building blocks are to provide students an opportunity to enhance their social skills as they interact with others.
There was a book I read over the summer that discussed the importance of free play and social interaction. Therefore, I want to be able to encourage students to use their imagination and develop social skills to help them as they grow. With it seemingly more difficult for people to work with others because of differences, I want to begin allowing children the ability to develop these skills.
