This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The sensory materials we’re requesting—such as tactile toys, sensory boards, and interactive tools—are crucial for our students with severe and profound disabilities. These items will provide essential sensory stimulation that helps improve their motor skills, cognitive development, and emotional regulation. By engaging with these materials, students will have opportunities to explore textures, sounds, and visual stimuli in a way that is tailored to their individual needs. This tailored sensory input can lead to enhanced focus, greater participation in classroom activities, and overall improved well-being.

Our primary goal for this project is to create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of our students.

We aim to:

-enhance sensory engagement to support cognitive and motor skill development

-foster emotional stability and reduce anxiety through calming and soothing materials

-encourage active participation and interaction in classroom activities

-provide individualized learning experiences that promote personal growth and development

Our students are remarkable individuals with unique abilities and challenges. Despite their profound disabilities, they demonstrate resilience, curiosity, and a strong desire to connect with the world around them. Each student brings their own strengths and needs to the classroom, making it a vibrant and diverse learning community. Their bravery in facing daily challenges and their progress, no matter how small, inspire everyone around them.
