My Students
My students are Newcomer ELLs who have just moved here within the past year. They are bright young students who are eager to learn English despite the challenges of Covid-19 this year. They are Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Spanish speakers who are part of our second family. We are lucky to give our students a home away from home in our classroom. Our school is lucky to have a Newcomer's program that foster the needs of our Entering ELLs. I am so proud to be a part of this program and hope that this year is no exception.
My Project
Unfortunately due to the increase in positive cases of COVID-19 our Newcomer ELL students (who have only been in the country for a few months) are switching from in person classes to fully remote instruction. In order to make remote instruction as beneficial as possible for them, having two screens will be essential in allowing me to present my lessons and have students fully participate live via Google Meets. The additional monitor, web cam and wireless mouse will allow me to engage my students in meaningful English discussions while they're home.
