I am the Reading Specialist in a Massachusetts Charter public school which services grade 4 through 8 students from the immediate area as well as surrounding higher-need communities. My focus for my students is to improve their reading comprehension and literacy.
It is my desire to enhance and encourage better reading skills and create reflective and inquisitive students. Healthy reading habits promote positive thinking. From there, students will find academic success in areas across the curriculum.
Books on Tape and headphones are an integral part of the curriculum in order to motivate, excite, and foster students' enthusiasm for lifetime enjoyment of reading. These necessary components also increase a healthy self-esteem.
