Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am an eighth grade teacher who teachers Algebra and Pre-Algebra in the low income community known as East Los Angeles. I used a Smart board interactive white board in my classes last year, and the response from the students was great. The students responded to the interactivity with an enthusiasm I had not seen from some of them. They were able to interact with interactive computer programs and websites in front of the class. Some of them actually created their own Power Point presentations to present to the class.
This upcoming year, I would like to add to the technology of the classroom. I want to get more interactive so I can reach more students. During the year, I group the students and have them make presentations to the class. I would like to buy an Elmo video presenter that can connect to my projector and project to the Smart board. This would be used during the student presentations, especially those students who could not fully participate last year because they did not know how to use Power Point. They can create their presentations on paper and projector to the smart board via the Elmo.
