My Students

My students attend a public neighborhood school on the south side of Chicago. I teach a wide demographic of young adults ranging from freshmen to juniors in high school. Next year, I will also be serving seniors. I have about 150 students divided up between English II: American Literature and AP Capstone Seminar and Research. My students are in desperate need of more resources and some individual feedback. Since this is a public school, they often fall victim to budget cuts, and they don't deserve to have their educational path rerouted as a result of poor funding; they deserve more. I want to supply these wonderful scholars with technology to further enhance their researching, writing, collaborating, and presentation skills. I truly believe that many of these students are bound to do amazing things that will change America in a meaningful, positive way.

These students are honestly the kindest, most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of teaching.

They are respectful individuals, and they will use your donations to improve their academic skills in preparation for higher education and beyond.

My Project

With these Chromebooks, my English II scholars will research how current event issues relate to meaningful moments in American history as seen through literary works such as "The Crucible," "The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass," "The Great Gatsby," and "The Bluest Eye." In AP Capstone, students will be working toward their own senior dissertations in an attempt to solve modern-day world problems. They will collaborate through GoogleDocs and work as a team to compose, edit, revise, and finalize their solution to issues such as homelessness, monopolies, gender discrimination in STEM programs, and the education of LGBTQ youths.

The future of our world is at their fingertips, and with your donation, you will be helping them learn the skills necessary to make a meaningful impact on their lives as well as ours.

My students are currently enrolled in a school of over 1800 young adults, but our access to computers and working technology is limited. These scholars are writing and researching throughout the year, but they are reduced to writing on their phones or handwriting. In today's society, technological skills are necessary for success. My students deserve the opportunity to improve their lives and their academic opportunities.
