This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a bilingual teacher in a low-income and high poverty school district, I know that my students are faced with various challenges in and out of the classroom. My desire is to maintain a positive learning experience so that my students become motivated learners.
My students are innovative, bright, and very inquisitive.
They like to work in groups. They enjoy reading and especially positive attention. Many of them are below the poverty level and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These experiences may prevent them from getting ahead early in life. I hope to inspire my students on a path of academic achievement.
My Project
Scholastic News magazine is an excellent resource for my English language learners. This resource has pictures that provide a great visual for each story. The graphics are quire vivid and they really engage my classroom readers.
My English learners need reading material that will educate them for their future.
This magazine is one item that I know my students will look forward to receiving in class. It will prepare them to speak, read, and write better English. Also, the Scholastic Science Spin is another magazine that will assist my ELL's to prepare for STEM careers.
