This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher in a Transitional Bilingual Spanish -speaking classroom. My students are intelligent and energetic; they come to school with this amazing ready -to learn attitude. Though they struggle with the English Language, they are always eager to try and take risks in order to learn, speak and, write in English.

My classroom is comprised of 20 amazing English Language Learners who come from low-income families.

They are individuals who work very hard, though they are at various learning levels and need extra support due to the language barrier they all have great potential to be successful students.

My Project

My students enjoy interacting with technology; I find that they are most engaged in lessons when technology is integrated into the lesson.

I would like to get funded in order to get two iPads, iPad cases, and headphones with microphones for my first grade classroom to help with reading and writing across all content areas including science and social studies.

These iPads will help play different roles for my students and help their specific needs with the use of technology. As I am a Bilingual first grade teacher, one way that having the iPads in the classroom would be helpful, would be by allowing my students to use the iPads as a tool in their writing processes. My students, who are English Language Learners will have the opportunity to say and record what they want to write and will have the recording to go back to in order to assist them in their writing.

Overall the integration of technology in my classroom will aid my students in becoming independent as readers, writers, mathematicians, and researchers.
