English Language Learners Need Resources for Math!

Help me give my students who are ELLs financial literacy books including "The Toy Store" and "The Bake Sale" and resources to use during math centers such as pencils and earbuds to increase their understanding of financial literacy.

My Students

I teach fourth grade at a Title I school located in Central Florida. 98% of students at my school are eligible for free/reduced-price lunches. I teach math and science to a total of 48 students. Our students come from a variety of social, behavioral, and emotional backgrounds.

I want to make sure I am doing everything possible to provide a safe learning environment for all of my fourth-grade learners.

My students are eager to learn. This project will provide an engaging (and safe) way for them to learn about financial literacy in the classroom. I am excited for them to be able to access these fantastic financial literacy books we received last year.

My Project

This project will provide materials for my fourth grade students who speak English as a Second or Other Language (ESOL) so they can actively participate with us during the math block to increase their financial literacy.

This is the first year that I will have students who speak English as a second language in my class and this project will ensure they have the appropriate tools needed to be successful.

This project will provide my ESOL students with a variety of math and science books written in Spanish which correlates with our curriculum so they can participate and read with the rest of the students. This project will also provide them with earbuds so they can listen to financial literacy books on tape in Spanish that they can access for free with a program we already own. It will also provide them labels and other materials to be successful during our math class.
