Bright-eyed and optimistic, my 5th grade English language learners are needing extra support to overcome the challenges both of learning English and of not meeting growth expectations during our time of pandemic. Since returning to on-site classes, many lessons and tests are provided by computer devices. Having good quality headphones will support their focus, growth and achievement in all their academic classes. In February, every EL student is tested with WIDA in all four domains of English language acquisition: listening, speaking, reading and writing. These headphones will help them improve in several domains so hopefully, they will show such achievement that they will test with scores high enough to be exited from the pull-out program before they move on to Middle School. (They would be monitored for two years after exiting the program).
