This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Through reading children's literature and poems, my students will have the opportunity to learn about the Holocaust. Using a variety of books will be an asset to their learning by giving different viewpoints and perceptions. I have seen students have their learning enhanced using a variety of children's literature because their interest is piqued by thinking it would be an "easy" read, only to realize there is more depth and motion that comes from the pages when reading. Poems are able to stir emotions and are impactful whether they are free verse, odes, or other poetry forms. Adding these reading styles to coincide with a novel makes learning more enticing.
