Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A new school year has just begun. Our group of students arrived; new faces, new smiles, new joy and many new challenges. It is my main goal this year to help my students go to the next level. How? By exposing them to the best experiences that will spark their imagination and promote a solid academic and social foundation during the time they are under my wings.
My students are very unique because they come from different social, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Our students are also at different academic levels ranging from early learners to late learners. Our new family in school includes students with special needs and another student with foster parents. As a teacher, I'm constantly striving to bring the best experiences for my students. It makes me very happy to make a difference in their lives!
.
My Project
Our students need new material to develop language and math skills. With a new set of Lego bricks, our students will be able to develop their creativity, self esteem, social skills, hand eye coordination and most importantly math and physics concepts. Early foundation for math and science is essential for future success in school. Manipulatives, such as Lego, provide an open ended world of possibilities that the student is able to control and master regardless of their level of development or primary language. Our students will be solving problems, sharing material and ideas while developing new vocabulary words and language. While working with Lego bricks, our student will develop hand eye coordination and fine motor skills essential for a strong writing foundation. A new world of learning possibilities will be achieved with the new Lego bricks.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
