My Students
I have the privilege to teach at three Title I schools that have a diverse population of students from all over the world. My students enjoy reading, project-based learning activities, robotics and being creative. I have the unique opportunity to teach Horizons, a gifted class at these schools. My students shine when I bring LEGOs or electronic kits into a lesson about animals, critical thinking or problem solving skills. With our students' economic backgrounds, they don't get many opportunities at home to interact with materials to encourage creative thinking.
My Project
Teaching students real world engineering skills today is important for our country. The Bubble Bonanza kit is a wonderful way to expose students to the engineering design process in a fun and engaging way. Students will explore how bubbles behave and investigate the properties of different materials as they engineer different kinds of bubble wands. The unit concludes with a Bubble Bonanza Showcase where kids demonstrate their creations.
STEM activities like the ones in the Bubble Bonanza kit encourages students to use skills that an engineer would use to solve a problem.
My hope is for students to explore STEM related jobs for the future. The Bubble Bonanza Kit is a significance tool to enhance my ability to teach my students engineering skills.
