This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project will allow my students to build their own rubber band-powered cars, learning fundamental concepts in physics, engineering, and design. We will incorporate wooden dowels and cardboard as primary structural materials for the cars, with epoxy used to mold and shape custom components. This provides students with a wide range of materials to explore how different structures and materials impact the performance of their designs.
Through this hands-on activity, students will engage in:
- Engineering Design: Students will brainstorm, plan, and build rubber band-powered cars using a combination of epoxy, wooden dowels, and cardboard.
- Physics Concepts: They will explore concepts like potential and kinetic energy, friction, and aerodynamics.
- Teamwork & Problem Solving: Students will work in teams to iterate and improve their designs, learning valuable collaboration and critical thinking skills.
