My students need hands-on STEM materials to practice their engineering/problem-solving skills in a highly engaging way.

My Students
I teach at a great rural school near the coast of South Carolina. Our school houses Pre-K through fifth grade with a student population of about 800 students. Although our elementary school is one of the biggest in our district, we have a family feeling to it that visitors notice when they walk through the front doors. We have a total of six kindergarten classes. With a school this big, our population is extremely diverse. We have very low economic families in our community, but these children are always eager to learn and ready to overcome obstacles. I want to help my students who are just beginning their school careers go even further and really push themselves. Your donations will make that dream possible for my classroom.
My Project
I cannot think of a better way to allow my kindergarten students to stretch their imaginations than to challenge them to use their engineering and problem-solving skills with these STEM activity kits. In addition, the magnetic stand-up whiteboard will be a great addition to our science center for planning and drawing strategies as well.
Building roller coasters, vehicles, bridges, and houses, as well as creating chain reactions will be such fun and highly engaging ways to practice these important, lifelong skills.
Not only will these centers cover our STEM goals, they will also help my students practice working cooperatively in small groups. Teamwork makes the dream work!
