Engineering Critical Reasoning Thinkers Through Building Blocks
My students need different kinds of blocks to build better structures as a team.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Torres's classroom raised $608
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"I wish I can take this book home so Mami can read it to me" was the expression of one of the students in our classroom after reading the story "No, David, No!" by David Shannon during reading time. This is us! A group of students thirsty to learn and lead by a group of professionals exposing them to the best experiences to spark their imagination and promote a solid foundation during the preschool years.
Our students are like caterpillars; hungry for learning experiences to spark their imagination and very emphatetic.
They are very unique because they come from different social, cultural and linguistic backgrounds including Haití, Bangladesh, Brazil, African Americans, and Hispanics. Our students are also at different academic levels ranging from early learners to late learners.
Our family in school includes two students with special needs also. As a teacher, I'm constantly striving to bring the best experiences for my students. It makes me very happy to see them learning and growing.
My Project
We need more blocks to build better structures in our classroom and promote team work while learning. Our students love building structures; from a simple house to a skyscraper, but we only have a few blocks good enough for one child. Our dream is to have more blocks available for children to build better structures, to share ideas, ask questions to each other and develop math, science and critical thinking. When children work together making plans and solving problems, the brain is creating the building blocks for a brighter concept understanding and application in the future. Together we can do it!
