it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are bright, kind, and eager to learn. They are 6th graders experiencing their first year of Middle School through a blend of remote and in-person learning.
My students have big goals and want to help make the world a better place through innovation.
They are excited to learn and support each other in the process. They accept, value, and build on each other's thoughts and ideas.
My students have been patient and understanding with the recent switch to remote learning. They were excited to join the Engineering Club knowing that they could make a change by improving the in-person learning experience through design and innovation. My student population is made up of 60% LatinX students, and 40% African American students.
My Project
The design of a school desk has not seen much change in the past 100 years. Now that students must remain in their seats, and in the same classroom throughout the day, it is essential that we make our students feel comfortable when they are in school.
Through a lunch time Engineering Club, students redesigned the school desk by brainstorming the features that a school desk should possess in order to meet modern day student needs.
Students decided to focus on comfortability and an effective used of space when selecting the materials needed to redesign and update the school desk.
