This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am an intervention specialist at a Title 1 school. I spend my day working with small groups of students who are struggling with grade level concepts. During intervention, we try to approach things differently than in the classroom. The small groups help us focus on student needs and find the gaps in their learning. We are always looking for new ways to present information. Technology is a great tool in intervention because it opens so many doors and provides so many different ways to present information.
My Project
At our school, we are beginning to implement the use of technology in all areas of the school. This iPad will impact my intervention students because right now, we only have one iPad that the students all have to share. When there are 6 students in a group, that is not an effective method of teaching.
An additional iPad will help my students collaborate and learn while having fun.
Our math intervention program has an app that we can load onto the iPad which will make it great for those students who are visual learners. There are also many iPad apps that reinforce concepts that we work on during intervention. This iPad will allow my students to share their work with the teachers and their parents, too.
