Engaging Students with Hands on Math Manipulatives
Help me give my students hands on math manipulatives to use at home while learning online. Using virtual manipulatives is not as engaging as having the concrete tools in your hands.

My Students
I have a wonderful 2nd grade virtual classroom this year with 22 eager to learn students. Like most 7-8 year old children, they need a learning environment that promotes movement and active engagement in learning. The more they get to engage in the learning activity, the more they learn. They seek out learning activities that allow them to be hands-on, creative, and free to explore. They love to learn and I absolutely love to see their smiling faces while engaged in learning activities online.
My Project
These materials will help engage my students in hands on math at home. They are currently using online virtual or paper created manipulatives that aren’t as engaging or as easy to access for learning as having physical math manipulatives in their hands would be. My students have opted to learn at home throughout the course of this year or until it is safe enough to return to school, so they will get plenty of use with these learning materials at home. I will create math pouches for each student as soon as I get the materials and get them into my students hands for more engagement during math instruction.
