This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students missed out on engaging, in-person lessons in speech therapy for a significant amount of time during COVID-19. We relied heavily on digital, hands-off materials during this time. Now that we are back in the classroom, I want to encourage them to learn, grow and participate in speech therapy using hands-on materials and reinforcers such as books, workbooks, and visual models. I would also love to be able to create my own materials using the Cricut machine that is custom to the students I see on campus. I could also use this to construct reinforcers (i.e. stickers, cards, etc.) to keep students motivated. In addition, it is important to both me and my students to have a welcoming and visually-stimulating space full of quality materials for students to come for speech and language therapy.
