My Students

The 5th-grade students of my school are a wonderful group of children that are in dire need of good resources.

Our students live in a very tough and challenging area in East San Jose, California and because of this, my goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment where they can come into my classroom and escape the hardships of our community.

I believe that with good resources and high-quality education, our students will become successful citizens within our community.

My Project

I would love to give my students high quality books for our classroom library. My student love to read and I would love to offer them many different kinds of books to choose from. I believe that if I give my students ample choices of books to read during silent reading time, they will become lifelong lovers of reading.

I have made an effort to make my classroom a calming environment where students can read independently throughout the day.

I believe that daily silent reading can help my students ease their anxieties.

This is my first year teaching 5th grade, so I have just started to build my classroom library of books appropriate for my students' ages.

These are books that my students have been asking for and will excite them even more about independent reading time.
